 IQ: Fort Collins, Colo., has America's safest drivers

This year’s top honor of “America’s Safest Driving City” is Fort Collins, Colo., according to a report released by Allstate.

The sixth annual Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report found that the average driver in Fort Collins will experience an auto collision every 14.5 years, or about 31 percent less than the national average.
The Allstate report ranks America’s 200 largest cities in terms of car collision frequency to identify which cities have the safest drivers, according to Allstate claim data.

Fort Collins officials credited their residents with earning the safe driving recognition.
For the past 6 years, Allstate actuaries have conducted analyses of company claim data to determine the likelihood drivers in America’s 200 largest cities will experience a vehicle collision compared to the national average, the company said.

The top 10 safest driving cities  in America were:
• Fort Collins, Colo.
• Chattanooga, Tenn.
• Boise, Idaho
• Colorado Springs, Colo.
• Knoxville, Tenn.
• Eugene, Ore.
• Reno, Nev.
• Huntsville, Ala.
• Lincoln, Neb.
• Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Safest big cities included: Phoenix, San Diego, New York and Houston.
